Top 5 Inspiring artists-NEW

With the new Textiles Art G.C.S.E looming I have been doing a little artist research as it is always fun to search out new and inspiring artists to enhance the work we produce in class. Here are my top 5 at the moment.
The first is 1. Alisa Burke...Alisa uses vibrant surface colour in blocks as a base to apply interesting floral pattern. Her blog is well worth taking a look at as she has free downlodes, creative ideas to make at home and a lot of visually inspiring work.

Also if you have an Instagram follow Alisa as she had small videos of how she creates her artwork which are absolutely brilliant.

2. Lucy Sparrow is a felt artists who has created an entire 'cornershop' filled with edible looking goodies entirely out of felt and similarly 3. Holly Levell who creates confectionery form felt.

Food is always a favorite with my girls and i have found two incredible food textiles artists.

The next artist i adore is 4.Katie Daisy. Katie is an inspirational painter who uses nature and the land around her to inspire her stunning artwork. One of the things i love about textiles is how easily stunning artwork can be converted into fabric and stitch. Her detailed paintings include lettering and saying which i feel enhance her pieces.

Artist 5. Elizabeth Pawle. Elizabeth creates colourful, textured, textile pieces using a variety of fibers and stitching technique. Her geometrical approach would also make interesting art pieces.

Year 10 Hand Stitch Examples.

One of the best things about teaching, in my opinion is promoting and showcasing excellent work. A huge well done goes to Billie Turner and Emily Thorpe in year 10 for their 'hand stitching' pages. The girls learn a technique in lesson and then independently build on their skills by experimenting further in a quest to continually push themselves an and improve their work.

Here are examples of both Billie and Emily's pages. Well done girls. Excellent work.

A well composed, informative page based on shells and hand stitching.

Examples of lazy daisy, cross, star and chain stitch.

Examples of running, ladder and twisted blanket stitch

A detailed page.

Examples of french knots, couching and loop stitch .

A huge well done to all of my year 10 Textiles girls for all of their effort and hard work.
