Kimberley Magee Year 9 Sugar Skulls

Here are some outstanding examples of sugar skull design ideas from an extremely talented young lady in year 9. I had to shared these because I am in awe of her drawing skills. I am looking forwards to seeing these as textiles pieces.

Year 11 Component 1 Exam

Here is a selection of images of the current year 11's GCSE work. We have a hat, skirt, t-shirt, two toddler dresses, a corset and a Japanese Obi belt. I am incredibly proud of this class, they have created some detailed, precise and imaginative pieces. We, as a class are really enjoying component 2 and i look forwards to seeing the end result.

Well done guys.

Emily Thorpe Reverse Applique

When the the year 10 girls chose Textiles 5 months ago some had no experience of a sewing machine and were understandably apprehensive about using one. With my constant moaning about 'practice' and 'independence' both girls gave it their all and have produced some excellent reverse applique samples. With reverse applique there is nowhere to hide, your stitching has to be accurate. I chose to post Emily's work (she's becoming a bit of a celebrity on here) because i am astounded by the accuracy and effort she has put into, quite honestly the best reverse applique sample i have ever seen. It is amazing. Very Well done Emily.

ICC Options Evening Thursday 26th January

It's that important time of the year again when the year 9 students choose their options. Why choose an option? Well in my opinion I would say you have to love the option you choose, after all your aim is to get a good G.C.S.E in that subject. Do something you enjoy, something you're passionate about, something you would like to pursue for a future career. In short, choose what is best for you and then give it your all.

As a teacher I expect dedication, I need students who are willing to give it their all, to put in the time after school and enjoy their learning experience. Expect to work hard but know that you get out what you put in, so all of that effort will pay off on results day.

Pop in to the technology area where we can show you incredible examples of past work, give you and your parents a course overview and answer any of your course related questions.

Some of the current year 11's will be working on their coursework and will be happy to give you an honest insight into each subject, come and have a chat with them...they are a friendly bunch.

We look forwards to seeing you and your families on Thursday night!

See you soon,

Miss Mellor
