As the last rotation approaches I am thrilled to see the Year 9 work getting better and better. I am particularly impressed with the detailed, well annotated design ideas by Alisha. Fantastic work. Well done. Keep it up.

Year 7 Lichtenstein inspired drawing work
Here are two excellent examples of Pop Art drawing pieces from my Art lesson last week. The same image of Roy Lichtenstein's woman, created with the same media (pencil & watercolour) demonstrating such unique style. Well done Emily Rimmer and Emily Egan. You are very talented girls. Keep up the good work.
Josh Doab Playstation Controller Cushion
A huge well done goes to Josh in year 8 for the designing and making of his excellent Playstation controller cushion. Josh completed this during the last technology rotation. Aside from trying his best and being 100% optimistic at all times Josh lets nothing stand in the way of his vision and creativity. Well done Josh. You are a superstar. Keep up the good work.

Year 8 Pop Art Cushions
We are now at the end of the third Textiles Year 8 rotation and I must say the quality of work just keeps getting better and better. Here is an example of some of the most creative design ideas/final pieces from the last rotation. I am particularly pleased with the use of Reverse Applique, Batik and Applique which the three students below have completed accurately and skillfully. Well done Rowan, Alex and Josie. Keep up the excellent work.

| Alex Fouracre's Youtube design with Reverse Applique. |

Year 9 Art Homework
In art at the moment we have been looking at vintage and contemporary advertising. The students were set the task of recreating a contemporary advert in their chosen media.
Here are some fantastic examples. Well done girls, you are very creative and talented.

Shannon Byrne Year 11
Shannon Byrne is basing her Component 2 samples on the work of artist Rebecca Chapman at the moment. Shannon has a distinct colour style which can be seen in her sample work. I adore the bright colours, contrasting materials and use of black stitched flowers over her layers of appliqued fabric. These are fantastic samples. Well done Shannon you have demonstrated accuracy and skill and are very talented. Keep up the good work.

What's in the Box?
I am very excited about an upcoming school trip I am taking a group of students on this week. 4 students who are talented cooks are joining a host of other schools at Salford City College to complete in the 'what's in the box' challenge. The students will relieve a box of ingredients and make a meal to win a prize. I shall post some photos at weekend.
In the meantime, good luck everyone.
