Bayley Casell's Bespoke Fabric

Textiles G.C.S.E time is almost upon us and there are some exciting things going on in my classroom. Whilst this is an undoubtedly stressful time for the year 11 students, it is also the time they can really let their creativity shine. We have peacock inspired headdresses, Gucci inspired embellished tiger jackets, unicorn bags and a mandala inspired clutch. Year 11 student Bayley Cassell has been working on a fantastic design for a clutch bag. Here is a design she drew and coloured, scanned into the computer, edited via photoshop and printed onto fabric. Bayley will be transforming this beautiful bespoke fabric into a clutch bag, complete with tassells, a zip and embellished sample work. I can't wait to see the results in two weeks time. Well done Bayley, you are an inspiration. Keep it up!

What a fantastic bunch of monsters! Lots of creative design work, applique, hand and machine stitching and buttons.

Well done guys! Excellent work.

Tasharna Patterson Reid: Teesha Moore Sample.

I had to share this mixed media, Teesha Moore Textiles piece created by Tasharna Patterson-Reid. I adore the colours and use of materials. Tasharna looked at Nicki Minaj for inspiration which can be seen by her central character. Tasharna used applique, hand and machine stitching, quilting, couching, blanket stitch and layering.

Excellent work from Tasharna. Well done.

Alix James' Unicorns

Who doesn't love unicorns? At ICC they are very popular. At present we have unicorns being made in year 7 and year 11. Alix chose unicorns to accompany her pastel themed AQA question. She has followed the same template to create some lovely sample work. The techniques used are applique, reverse applique, quilting, gutta, batik and hand stitching.

Well done Alix. Keep up the good work.

Jessica Heye's Portfolio

Each student I teach has their own sense of style in relation to their work. It might be the colours they use, the composition of their imagery, the way in which they present their samples and of course the way they create their Textiles Samples. I have selected a few pages from Jessica Heye's portfolio of work as I feel Jess encapsulates all of the above. She uses masking tape to section off her key words and this is a method that others have started to use. Jess really thinks about the way she presents her work, from evaluations to zip pages...the detail and quality of her work is too a very, very high standard. Well done Jess, keep up the great work.
